Kathmandu : Capital
of Nepal, the mystical valley-Kathamndu is Nepal's biggest and
most cosmopolitan city, a meeting place of a dozen ethnic groups,
and the hometown of the Newars. The Kathmandu Valley, narrow and
small as it is, nonetheless boasts of seven World Heritage sites
within 20 kilo meters a record unrivaled in the world.
Patan : The ancient city
of Patan, lying 5 km southeast of Kathmandu, is known as the
city of fine arts. The diversity of the medieval culture has
left a rich legacy of impressive sightseeing in this city for
today's visitors.
Bhaktapur : Situated at
an altitude of 1401 m, Bhaktapur (or Bhadgaon) covers an area
of four square miles. Bhaktapur or "the city of Devotees"
still retains the medieval charm and visitors to this ancient
town are treated myriad wonders of cultural and artistic achievements.
Nagarkot : Located 30 kilometers
east of Kathmandu at an altitude of 2,175m, Nagarkot has developed
into a favorite weekend gateway among those seeking mountain
views in comfort and quite. At sunrise, the Himalayan range,
stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest
for Kanchenjunga in the east, emerges from the darkness to greet
the happy visitors with its awe inspiring majesty and beauty.
Dhulikhel : Dhulikhel,
an ancient town is situated 30 kilometers east of Kathmandu
on the side of the Arniko Rajmarga (Kathamnd-Kodari Highway).
It is a lovely place famous for its scenic beauty and old tradition.
From here one cane have a complete panoramic view of the snowy
range from Karyolunge in the east, to Himalchuli in the west.
There is a medieval township, Banepa, between kathmandu and
Dhulikhel.
Pokhara : If kathmandu
is the cultural hub of Nepal, Pokhara is its center of adventure.
An enhanting city nestled in a tranquil valley, it is the starting
point for many of Nepal's most popular trekking and rafting
destinations.
Tansen : The township of
Tansen bears a rich legacy of the traditional art and architecture.
Perched on the lap of the spectacular Srinagar Danda (hill)
Tansen commands a gorgeous panorama of the Himalayas as well
as the plains of Terai.
Gorkha : Gorkha is a scenic
hill-town with great historical significance. Situated on a
small hillock at an attitude of about 1000m, Gorkha offers panoramic
view of snow-fed mountains.
Chitwan : A visit to Nepal remains incomplete without seeing
the beauty of the Terai and Chitwan is the best place to do
so. The Royal Chitwan National Park, established in 1973, provides
a great wildlife experience with its rich flora and fauna.
Muktinath :Situated at
an altitude of 3745 meters from the sea level, Muktinath is
a small but one of the most scared Hindu Temples surrounded
by lofty Himalayas. The easiest access to Muktinath is to take
a flight from Kathmandu or Pokhara to Jomsom and do a three
days trek through Kagbeni. It can be reached by a 10 days trek
from Pokhara. The trek is one of the most beautiful treks in
Nepal, passing through typical Nepali villages and viewing many
mountains including Mt. Annapurna & Mt. Dhaulagiri. A permit,
from immigration office, is required to do this trip.
Lumbini : Lumbini- a place
in the South-Western Terai of Nepal, evokes a kind of holy sentiment
to the millions of Buddhists all over the world , Lumbini and
its surrounding areas is endowed with a rich natural setting.
Janakpur : Named after
the legendary King Janak, Janakpur was the capital of the ancient
Indian Kingdom Mithila, the native country of goddess Sita,
the wife of the Hindu god Ram and the heroine of the greate
Hindu epic Ramayan. Today, Janakpu stands as the most cleanes
and interesting place among all the towns of Terai.
